The Nissan/Mercedes YS23 (also known as the M9T in Renault applications or OM699 in Mercedes-Benz) is a highly advanced 2.3-liter, four-cylinder diesel engine. Born from the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, it was designed to replace larger, less efficient engines by using high-pressure turbocharging to deliver massive torque from a smaller displacement.
